The first and only commercially available Mg(OH)₂ crystals were grown using float zone synthesis technique to yield perfectly layered, large size, highly crystalline vdW layered crystals. Mg(OH)2 crystals exhibit ~4 eV direct gap and is considered 2D widegap material with exciting applications in photonics, optoelectronics, and high power devices.
Sample size: ~10 mm or larger
Crystal symmetry and Space group: P-3m1
Nature: Layered crystal; can be isolated to monolayers rather easily
Band gap: ~4.0 eV (bulk) monolayer behavior unknown
Purity: Semiconductor grade (6N) 99.9999%
Growth technique: Float zone technique
